• PE and Music classes must walk around the front of the school. There will be no access at the end of the 300 hallway.
• Teachers will send a runner to the recorder beside portable #3
• You will not have a designated space with a number in the field. Choose a place along the fence to assemble your class. During non-instructional time, students are to find their homeroom teacher.
Traffic Pattern
• The North half of the current student parking area on the West side of the building (off Reece) will be turned over to Graham Construction.
• We have arranged with the City of Chilliwack to use the Rotary Pool parking lot as student parking for the duration of the construction project.
• Students can either park in the reduced current student parking space, or at Rotary Pool.
• There is no student parking at the front (South) of the building or at the rear (North) of the building. Students should not be entering the school site from Yale Rd. or Portage Ave. Student parking is accessible from Reece Ave only.
• There are a few spots at the Rotary lot and in the student lot marked Reserved. This must obeyed at all times and students who park in these areas may have their vehicles towed at their expense.
• The current bus route on the North side will remain in operation until June 16, 2011. During exams, busses will drop their passengers off at Portage Ave. There will be a safe walkway provided for students to make their way to school.

CSS Construction Update #1

The long awaited start to the CSS building project is here. To date, the activities to prepare for the construction have been done by our local SD 33 maintenance staff. The scope of work has included moving two computer labs, relocating fitness from the first floor to second floor, moving the CSS music department into the building and relocating a classroom.

On Monday, May 16, the team from Graham construction will be starting their work on site.

Abatement and demolition activities will commence starting with the music building and Kipp Centre. The North end of the existing West wing will be worked on once the school year is completed and students and staff have left for the summer. Permits of these activities have been obtained and all Provincial agencies have been notified of this work.

Graham construction has fenced all areas of work and will be enforcing stringent safety policies to ensure there is no impact on the public, students or staff during these activities. Additional areas will be fenced upon completion of the school year to enable the full blown start of construction.

This project will last for over two years and we will do everything we can to keep parents, students and the community informed. Check our website frequently to stay up to date on the progress of the project.

Should you ever feel you need more information than is posted, feel free to contact the school at 604-795-7295 and we will be happy to answer your questions.

Thank you in advance for your patience as we begin a new era for education in the Chilliwack Secondary School community.
