Essentials of Math
(EMath 4 credits)

Course Description: This practical, non-academic pathway is intended for students who find multiple step problems and algebra very difficult. Methods used in this pathway are mostly computational.
Who should take this course? Students with a passing mark from any Math 11 course.
Is this an academic program? No.
Who is the program designed for? Students who wish to fulfill grad requirements and have limited post-secondary plans.*
What type of student excels in this program? Students who have previously struggled with mathematics and are willing to attend regularly and work hard in class.

Applications of Math 12
(AMath 4 credits)

Course Description: This practical, academic pathway is intended for students who would prefer to use technology rather than algebra. A TI 83 graphing calculator is required for this course.
Who should take this course? Students with an AMath 11 final mark of C+ or higher or a PMath 11 final mark of C or higher
Is this an academic program? Yes.
Who is the program designed for? Students planning on taking many post-secondary programs (except the programs listed to the right.)*
What type of student excels in this program? Students who prefer a hands on, investigative approach to mathematics using technology.

Principles of Math 12
(PMath 4 credits)

Course Description: This academic pathway is intended for students who are proficient in multiple step problems and algebra. A TI 83 graphing calculator is required for this course. This course is a prerequisite for Calculus 12.
Who should take this course? Students with a PMath 11 final mark of C+ or higher
Is this an academic program? Yes.
Who is the program designed for? Students planning on taking math, sciences, engineering, or business at the college or university level or some other* post-secondary programs.
What type of student excels in this program? Students who are proficient with most branches of mathematics (including fractions, algebra, and graphing)

Calculus 12
Calc 12 and APCalc 12 (4 credits)

Course Description: This program has two options: Calculus 12 is a provincially approved course with no provincial exam. Advanced Placement Calculus 12 involves an optional exam in may ($115 fee)
Who should take this course? Students with a PMath 12 final mark of C+ or higher and good work habits.
Is this an academic program? Yes.
Who is the program designed for? Students planning on taking math, sciences, engineering or economics at the post-secondary level.
What type of student excels in this program? Students who have excelled at the thinking skills involved in PMath 12.
