Welcome to Chilliwack Secondary School's Culinary Arts Home Page

The primary focus, and objective of the Culinary Arts Program at CSS is the operation of the high school cafeteria.  Students enrolled in the program assist in the daily production of food for a student body, and staff, of over one-thousand persons.

Students new to the program begin by taking the B. C. Food Safety Course. Once certified, students are introduced to the daily operations of a commercial kitchen with industry standard equipment.  While learning to operate industrial machinery, students acquire knowledge in food basics, sauces, stocks, dressings, baking essentials, knife skills, and measurement.

In addition to the daily operation of the cafeteria, CSS Culinary Arts provides catering services for a variety of functions throughout our high school, the school district, as well as within the community.  Students have the opportunity of preparing, and serving food for a number of events, culminating in our School District's annual Apprenticeship Banquet held at Chilliwack Secondary for up to six-hundred and fifty people.

This program is very much a hands-on, work oriented class, ideally suited to a variety of learning styles, and abilities.

If you are passionate about food, like to work in a fast paced environment, and become part of a great team, this could be a program tailored to you.  Come check us out.
